Participants and Fans,

Here we go! the 2017 60th Annual Diamond Anniversary Whataburger Tournament BRACKETS have been released on the Bracket/Schedule page with state ranked teams and nationally ranked players galore.

The ORANGE bracket is loaded with first round match ups which in some tournaments would be the championship games. The tournament opens at 10:00 am on Thursday December 28 with 6A's  #11 San Antonio Wagner vs. #12 South Grand Prairie and the opening round ends with 6A #9 Houston Sam Houston vs. 5A 3# Northwest. In between, there are state ranked teams playing each other almost  in every game including #2 Arkansas invitee Little Rock Parkview which opens with 5A #9 Birdville. The Orange Division will showcase 9 out of the  top 13 teams state ranked in 6A  including 2016 defending Whataburger Tourney champ and currently 6A #2 ranked Denton Guyer along with the top 3 state of Texas ranked teams in 5A.

SPECIAL RECOGNITION: The tournament will honor and recognize retired and famed legendary I M Terrell and F W Dunbar Coach Robert Hughes Sr. at halftime  of Thursday's 5:30 pm game between LR Parkview and Birdville.  Coach Hughes was earlier this year inducted into the national Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in September.

The Blue Boys Division is loaded with 4A-1A state powers again this year with the west Texas contingent of  2015 and 2016 defending champion Abilene Wylie leading the way with Seminole, Burkburnett, and Nazareth right behind them. New entrant Center will add firepower to the tournament along with stalwarts Argyle, Brock, Ponder, Muenster, Bowie, Peaster, Liberty Hill, , Central Heights,  Decatur, Liberty Christian, and always strong Kennedale.

The Girls Blue Divison catches all Texas eyes as the tournament will showcase 5 defending 2016 State Champions in  4A Argyle, 2A Panhandle, 1A Nazareth, TAPPS 6A  Liberty Christian, and TAPPS 5A Dallas Christian.  Have no fear as current #1 ranked 4A Liberty Hill is eager to take back the 60th annual trophy after Kennedale beat them in last year's great championship game. Several other state ranked teams will have something to say about that also in Wall, Little River Academy, Stephenville, Bowie, Bridgeport, Abilene Wylie, Jim Ned, Seminole,  and Ponder.
